About Us

In Summer 2024, Jill read The Anxious Generation – and was fired up. She needed to build a village to scaffold the counter-culture childhood she wanted to create for her two small kids. After meeting three moms at the local middle school on a similar mission, the four met with school administrators who said:

You need more parents.

In April 2025, 12 moms met in Jill’s basement to discuss the nature-filled, boredom-friendly independent, intergenerational childhood many of us knew — and how we could band together to recreate that for our kids. Champions for Childhood was born. Since then, we have expanded through participation in local events, community and school partnerships, and engagement with the global movement to restore the play-based childhood.

We’re making waves!
